James Ransome

James E. Ransome has been honored with the 2023 Children's Literature Legacy Award by the American Library Association in recognition of his contributions to Children's Literature. With a career span of over 35 years, James has illustrated more than 75 books. He has an MFA from Lesley University. Ransome's talent has garnered accolades, including the Coretta Scott King Award, a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor, ALA Notables, a second Jane Addams Award for his wordless book A Place for Us, NAACP Image award and a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators. He resides in New York with his wife, author Lesa Cline-Ransome.
