Volunteer

The Rochester Children and Teens Book Festival would not be the amazing festival that it is without our awesome volunteers. You are the reason that so many authors, illustrators, librarians, teachers, parents and children rave about our festival.

A few ways to volunteer

  • Tech Volunteers

If you're adept at connecting laptops for presentations, please let us know. The smart classrooms are easy to use, but someone is needed to be there to help each author/illustrator get connected at the beginning of their presentation.

  • Author & Illustrator Mall Assistant

Comfortable in a crowd? These volunteers work in the busy mall area; monitoring lines, helping guests with book signings, assisting the authors and illustrators in getting what they need, and reminding them when they are due for a presentation.

  • Presentation Room Monitor

Volunteers assist in rooms where authors and illustrators will be giving talks. You will greet guests, get everyone seated in a timely manner, introduce the presenter, and keep the presenters on schedule.

  • Tweens and Teens Activity Monitor

Do you enjoy working with tweens and teens? This is the place for you! Volunteers will greet visitors, introduce presenters, assist during presentations and activities, help out with book-themed crafts, provide direction and assistance, and help create a welcoming, supportive, and fun environment for our tween and teen visitors.

  • Busy Bookworm Place Craft Room Assistant

Love kids and crafts? This is the place for you! You will work with kids at craft tables, monitor supplies, and keep your craft area tidy. The goal of this room is to connect kids with the books through crafts. This is the perfect position for an education student or anyone who loves working with children!

  • Read to Me Corner Monitor

Volunteers who love to read aloud are needed for this fun area of the festival. You will greet authors as they arrive and introduce them to the audience. You will help people get seated, authors will read from their works. If authors finish early, you will read a book while waiting for the next author to arrive.

  • Welcome Table Greeter

This volunteer greets guests as they enter the building, pointing out different activities and locations. Looking for friendly people with a big smile!

  • Liftbridge Booksellers Assistant

Helpers guide customers and assist the cashiers in checking out purchased books. Good customer service skills and friendly personality are a must!

  • Face Painters

Artsy volunteers are needed to decorate the faces of our young and eager festival-goers with some simple and cheery designs!

  • Hall Guide

These invaluable volunteers are stationed at points around the venue, greeting guests and helping to direct them to different rooms and point out the presentations going on. If you love to help people, this is the job for you!
