Torrey Maldonado is an acclaimed author and educator whose work impacts young readers and middle grade, young adult, and elementary school literature. Born and raised in Brooklyn’s Red Hook, he has taught in NYC for nearly 30 years. Inspired by his experiences, Hands, What Lane?, Tight, and Secret Saturdays bring authenticity and heart about friendship, family, and choices to each page and have been recognized by Oprah, The NY Times, and named Best Books of the Year by NPR and The Washington Post. Torrey contributes to anthologies alongside celebrated authors, and children’s literature celebrates his debut picture book, Just Right.
